Pennsylvania Safety Inspection Mechanic training program and test is required for technicians to receive their State Inspection License in Categories 1 (Passenger cars/trucks 17,000 lbs. or less/trailers 10,000 lbs. or less), 2 (Motorcycles), or 3 (trucks over 17,000 lbs./ trailers over 10,000 lbs./buses). This course includes a 4-hour tools class that provides instruction in the use of measuring tools needed to conduct an inspection. The Tactile Test is administered individually within 30 days of the last class. Fee includes class, book, and baseline test. Additional costs are $40 each for CAT 1and 2, and $80 for Cat 3.
